It’s a Wally Thought: Fashion as Expression, Comfort, and Craft

Vitamia / It’s a Wally Thought: Fashion as Expression, Comfort, and Craft

I have a clear idea of fashion and style: I’ve always believed it to be the perfect way to express oneself and feel good through one’s style. A designer’s job is to think about the well-being of those who wear their garments, and my approach is based on the search for comfortable materials, unusual and highly sophisticated combinations, refined lines, and details that make the difference. My work begins with the details: preparation for each new season always begins with the search for new knit stitches, unusual trims, sophisticated stitching, and unusual fabrics. My career history begins with my family, who have always been in the fashion industry, which has given me a knowledge of quality and an understanding of fine fabrics. My grandmothers have always paid attention to the workmanship of their garments, their style, and their presentation to the customer, driven by the passion they passed down to me.

I was born among yarns and embroidery, sweaters on mannequins, and the smell of wool in the air. We lived upstairs from the knitwear workshop; my entire family worked there, and my favorite game was running around carts full of yarn and colorful shelves. The sound of the knitting machines was always in my ears, and taking in so many details with my eyes was always the perfect way to satisfy my curiosity. The most important aspect, however, was the emotional one; my family has always been united around the heart of the house, my grandmother Wally. She taught me kindness, honesty, patience, and respect, in work and in life. Without her, I wouldn’t be who I am, and it’s to her that I dedicate everything.

Growing up, I understood the power of personal expression through fashion. Despite studying economics, I never neglected the fashion industry, combining my studies with work in the shop, one of the experiences that most shaped me. I learned to listen to the customer’s point of view, and I learned that in this job, the humility to understand the person in front of you is essential: we don’t know who we’re dealing with, nor do we know their story, but we must be able to get as close as possible to the combination that creates well-being, to the moment when the customer smiles with satisfaction. This goal was also fundamental in the creation of the “I.W.T. It’s a Wally Thought” brand and has always guided me in the creation of garments and especially in the choice of fabrics: every time I ask myself, “What will it be like to wear this garment?”, “What sensations will it evoke?”

“I.W.T. It’s a Wally Thought” was born at the intersection of my family’s history and a passion for research into innovative elements. It embodies the beauty of traditional craftsmanship, care for materials, and deep ethical and moral values, combined with forward-thinking details designed to enhance each garment and express the belief that everyone can become the best version of themselves. Founded in 2018, the project arose from a desire to express art, to create something new, and to break free from the conventions of seasonal fashion. Its mission is to craft pieces that are timeless yet modern, wearable and sophisticated, of exceptional workmanship and quality, and above all, made to be loved.

In 2019, the brand expanded into the social sphere, launching its first campaigns and creative collaborations, engaging directly with the world beyond the atelier. Since then, continuous research into unique fabrics and textures, the exploration of new color harmonies, and a constant pursuit of authenticity have defined its evolution. “I.W.T. It’s a Wally Thought” aspires to be a recognizable brand—one that becomes part of people’s everyday lives, accompanying them through every occasion with beautiful, enduring pieces. Its DNA is built on quality, elegance, and sophistication, speaking to all who seek personal expression through style, mixing and matching garments to create their own perfect harmony.

One of the first capsules I created was “Heart save Earth”. A heartfelt work, the manifesto of how fashion can communicate through materials and lines. Ecological, natural fabrics, light enough to give softness and dynamism when worn, such as the skirt with the three-flounce floral print and the perforated thread sweater. The desire was to communicate respect in many different points. We talk about respect for the planet we live in, for ourselves, for the search for beauty through fashion and style, for what we communicate every time we wear a garment. I always pay a lot of attention to asking myself whether the garments I design are able to speak for themselves and make their voice count even more when worn by those who choose them. For me this is extremely important, the fulcrum of my work. I would like to be known as someone who is attentive to the needs of the world in which he works for, precisely, the respect he deserves.

Fashion, for me, is not just creation but rather it is a communication. Every collection I design is a reflection of who I am, of the values I inherited, and of the world I wish to help shape. “I.W.T. It’s a Wally Thought” is not merely a brand name; it is a promise to continue a story that began long before me, in the hands and hearts of those who taught me what care, beauty, and integrity mean. Through every stitch, I aim to honor that legacy by transforming memory into innovation, emotion into form, and thought into style that endures.
