A conversation on fashion between Monica, Marina, and Emma

In the heart of Milan – surrounded by fine fabrics, wool threads, and sketches of coats spread across the cutting table – there is an atmosphere of family, creativity, and quiet determination.
Ediemmasisters was born from two sisters, Monica and Marina, who transformed their bond into an aesthetic language. Yet behind every piece, there is also the voice of Emma, Marina’s daughter, the muse who since her childhood has inspired their vision of contemporary femininity.

What follows is a conversation between three women – a dialogue across generations, between those who create and the young woman who grew up watching their world of elegance take shape.

Emma: You grew up in Milan, a city that breathes fashion. How has being born and working here influenced your style?

Monica: Milan is our school of life and of style. It is a city in constant motion, where elegance is never loud but always intentional. Walking through its streets teaches you to observe, absorb details, and appreciate restraint. I believe our way of creating comes from this balance between rigor and freedom.

Marina: Milan has taught us the value of time and proportion. Everything here moves quickly, but those who stop to notice discover the beauty of pure, essential lines. In our coats, this philosophy is always present: simplicity of form, exceptional materials, and that touch of personality that makes all the difference.

Emma: Do you remember the moment you decided to create the brand ediemmasisters?

Marina: Yes, it was 2011. Everything began when we started designing clothes for you, Emma. You were five years old, and your curiosity made us rediscover the joy of creating. Those little coats, those dresses you wore while running around the house — they were already the seed of what our brand would become.

Monica: ediemmasisters was born from a simple yet powerful desire: to tell our story as women, sisters, and designers. From the beginning, we chose to prioritize quality over logos, substance over status, and to remain faithful to our DNA — Made in Italy, craftsmanship, and authenticity.

Emma: Fashion has changed a lot since then. How do you see the world of luxury today?

Monica: Luxury today is not about status, it is about awareness. Women seek garments that last over time, that represent who they are. A pure wool or cashmere coat, made with care and precision, is a statement of respect for oneself and for the artisan who created it.

Marina: Exactly. True luxury is time; or specifically, the time required to make something properly. Quality is never rushed; it requires patience, dedication, and a sensitive hand. I believe the women who wear ediemmasisters can feel the quiet authenticity that distinguishes a well-made garment.

Monica: Now it is our turn to ask, Emma. You grew up surrounded by this world, yet with a modern perspective. What does fashion mean to you today?

Emma: To me, fashion is a language, a way of expressing myself without words. Watching you both work, I have learned that a well-made piece can accompany a woman through every part of her day. I love the way you combine elegance and practicality, designing for women who work, run, live and yet you never give up their sense of refinement.

Marina: And what do your friends think of our coats?

Emma: They love them (laughs). They often ask to borrow them from my wardrobe. They say your coats stand out and that they have a natural elegance that is hard to find. Maybe because you design for real women, not for an ideal on a runway. That is what makes them so special.

Monica: And do you think one day you will decide to join the brand?

Emma: I would say never say never… (smiles) But for now, I think my place is as someone who observes, interprets, and proudly wears what you have created. Maybe, in my own way, I am already carrying your lessons with me: the love of beauty, simplicity, and that detail which quietly changes everything.

Marina: That is exactly our dream, for fashion to remain a bond between generations, a language that evolves but never forgets where it began.

Monica: Our strength lies in our family and the empathy, patience, and respect we have for the creative process. Every piece we make is born from dialogue and listening. Perhaps that is what people feel when they wear our designs: behind every seam, there is a true story made of hands, glances, and shared memories.

ediemmasisters is more than a brand, it is a family story that continues to evolve.
Emma is its silent muse, the bridge between past and future, a living reminder that fashion can still be an act of love, for oneself, for others, and for the authentic beauty of Made in Italy.
